Efficacy of buffered hypertonic saline nasal irrigation for nasal symptoms in children with seasonal allergic rhinitis: A randomized controlled trial
International Archives of Allergy and Immunology Oct 27, 2017
Malizia V, et al. - This study compared the reduction in nasal symptoms in children with seasonal allergic rhinitis (AR) [(SAR)] following 21-day treatment with buffered hypertonic saline (BHS) versus normal saline solution (NSS). Also, researchers compared the efficacy of BHS as well as NSS on nasal cytology counts (NCC), quality of life, and sleep quality. Findings demonstrated that BHS not only effectively improved nasal symptoms and NCC in this patient population, but also exerted a beneficial impact on quality of life.
