Efficacy of Botulinum toxin‐A injection in treatment of androgenic alopecia: A comparative controlled study
Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Feb 03, 2022
Findings demonstrate that significant results in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA) can be achieved with Botox. This treatment option is highly expensive but has mild and tolerable side effects. Whereas, LC hair serum confers excellent results with fewer side effects.
This study included 62 AGA patients divided into Group (I) (n=31 patients) when injected 1 ml of LC hair essence (scalp injection with mesotherapy) serum diluted with 0.5 ml of 0.9% normal saline once weekly for 8 weeks and Group (II) (n=31 patients) when they were injected with 50 units of Botulinum toxin-A.
Compared with the baseline trichoscopy findings, a significant difference in findings was evident at the end of 6th month in the Botox Group and the difference was highly significant in LC Group.
In Group II, a statistically significant increase in the frequency of side effects (irritation and headache) was noted, relative to Group I.
