Efficacy of auditory implants for patients with conductive and mixed hearing loss depends on implant center
Otology & Neurotology Mar 24, 2019
Snik A, et al. - In this study, investigators estimated the data to assess the effectiveness of auditory implants for subjects with conductive and mixed hearing loss. They compared the aided thresholds with prescribed values which were based on cochlear hearing loss (bone-conduction thresholds). They reported unacceptably large variation in accomplished gain (the desired amplification) between implant teams which was chiefly independent of the type of device used. They recorded the best achievement of NAL targets at 2 kHz with worse consequences at other frequencies.
