Efficacy, durability, and safety of complete endoscopic mucosal resection of Barrett's esophagus: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology Feb 14, 2018
Tomizawa Y, et al. - This systematic review was performed to describe the rate of eradication and recurrence of both neoplasia and intestinal mucosa and the rate of adverse events for complete endoscopic resection (CER) of Barrett's esophagus (BE). As per the outcomes, an 85% complete eradication rate of BE with the recurrent rate of neoplasia of 6% was achieved due to CER. The estimated rate of postprocedural stricture was 37.4%. The present meta-analysis could not endorse CER as sole therapy for BE on the basis of this high rate of adverse events and significant heterogeneity in the studies included.
