Efficacy comparison of monotherapies and combination therapies for androgenetic alopecia: A Bayesian network meta‐analysis
Dermatologic Therapy Dec 17, 2021
Chen D, Yang X, Liu X, et al. - Combination therapies may afford the best treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) though the specific mechanism of their effect is not clear.
The Bayesian network model was employed to analyze 49 RCTs with 3,133 patients and 6 interventions, to compare and rank a variety of treatments for AGA.
Irrespective of based on hair density or hair diameter, the best treatment efficacy was shown by topical/systemic combined with adjunctive therapeutics (SMD: 40.11), followed by topical combined with systemic medical therapeutics (SMD: 36.41).
Regarding hair density, treatment efficacy showed significant difference sequentially among topical medical therapeutics, systemic medical therapeutics, and adjunctive therapeutics relative to placebo.
Combination therapies have recently emerged as significantly promising potential therapies.
