Efficacy and safety of transarterial chemoembolization plus external beam radiotherapy vs sorafenib in hepatocellular carcinoma with macroscopic vascular invasion: A randomized clinical trial
JAMA Oncology Mar 19, 2018
Yoon SM, et al. - In observational studies, promising results of combined treatment with transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) plus external beam radiotherapy (RT) have been shown in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma showing macroscopic vascular invasion. Herein, TACE plus RT vs sorafenib was tested as a treatment option for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and macroscopic vascular invasion. TACE plus RT vs sorafenib, as first-line treatment in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma showing macroscopic vascular invasion, resulted in an improved progression-free survival, objective response rate, time to progression, overall survival, and was well tolerated.
