Efficacy and safety of sitagliptin added to treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled with premixed insulin
Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism Jan 18, 2019
Yu M, et al. - In the present study, researchers tested the effectiveness and safety of adding sitagliptin to the treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes taking premixed insulin. Data from patients using premixed insulin ± metformin were analyzed in either of two clinical trials in which sitagliptin 100 mg once-daily or placebo was added to various formulations of insulin treatment. They found a significant improvement in glycemic control in patients with premixed insulin with sitagliptin, with no statistically significant differences in symptomatic or severe hypoglycemia incidences. This investigation confirmed the usefulness of sitagliptin used in combination with premixed insulin in type 2 diabetes patients.
