Efficacy and safety of selective internal radiation therapy with yttrium-90 for the treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma
BMC Gastroenterology May 16, 2021
Van Thai N, Thinh NT, Ky TD, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to assess the efficacy of SIRT with yttrium-90 (Y-90) microspheres and to identify prognostic factors affecting patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Between October 2013 and March 2019, 97 unresectable HCC patients (90 males, mean age 60.4 ± 12.3 years) who underwent SIRT with Y-90 microspheres were recruited. According to this retrospective analysis, SIRT was found to be a successful treatment for unresectable HCC. Positive prognostic factors included unilobar disease prior to SIRT and tumor response (CR/PR).
