Efficacy and safety of pulsed radiofrequency as a method of dorsal root ganglia stimulation for treatment of non-neuropathic pain: A systematic review
BMC Anesthesiology May 08, 2020
Vuka I, Došenović S, Marciuš T, et al. - Researchers sought to determine the efficacy and safety of dorsal root ganglion (DRG) targeted pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) vs any comparator for treating non-neuropathic pain. MEDLINE, CINAHL, Embase, PsycINFO, clinicaltrials.gov and WHO clinical trial register yielded 17 studies reporting the use of DRG targeted PRF in non-neuropathic pain conditions, for inclusion; the studies involved 599 participants. All studies conferred positive conclusions (both conclusive and inconclusive) concerning the efficacy of the treatment. The studies were, however, mostly non-randomized, involved small sample sizes, and had issues related to the risk of bias. Hence, they suggest considering the results as preliminary.
