Efficacy and safety of platelet-rich plasma in treating cutaneous ulceration: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Mar 29, 2019
Shen Z, et al. - A sum of 909 participants were studied to quantify the effectiveness and safety of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in the treatment of cutaneous ulceration with several etiologies. They noted the achievement of higher healing rate, a higher percentage of area reduction, and smaller final area in vascular ulcers with PRP vs conventional treatments. But, they observed no satisfactory results for diabetic ulcers suggesting nonsuitability of PRP for diabetic subjects. They conferred the dependence of effectiveness and safety of PRP in treating cutaneous ulceration on the etiology of ulceration.
