Efficacy and safety of oral premedication on pain after nonsurgical root canal treatment: A systematic review and network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

Journal of Endodontics Feb 10, 2019

Nagendrababu V, et al. - Researchers examined data to estimate the most efficient oral premedication in decreasing pain in subjects after nonsurgical root canal therapy (NSRCT). They observed the best results of corticosteroids (prednisolone 30–40 mg)for reducing postoperative pain as compared to placebo. They noticed a reduction in pain at 6 hours with sulindac, ketorolac, and ibuprofen whereas piroxicam and prednisolone significantly decreased the pain at 12 and 24 hours. Least efficiency of etodolac in reducing pain was also reported.
