Efficacy and safety of infliximab tolerance induction in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases who experienced acute infusion reactions
Digestive Diseases Aug 26, 2018
Pauchard I, et al. - Researchers tested the safety and effectiveness of a tolerance induction protocol in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) who previously had immediate hypersensitivity reactions (IHR) during infliximab (IFX) infusions. All cases of IBD subjects who had previously experienced IHR due to IFX and who were submitted to a standardized protocol of tolerance induction to IFX from 2010 to 2015 were reported in this analysis. The data presented showed that a majority of IHR to IFX infusions happened at the start or restarting of treatment, and was related to a nonallergic hypersensitivity. The study findings suggested that induction of tolerance to IFX was feasible and effective and could safely allow retreatment of IFX in nearly 70% of IBD patients.
