Efficacy and safety of endoscopic resection of sessile serrated polyps 10 mm or larger: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology Dec 07, 2019
Chandrasekar VT, Aziz M, Patel HK, et al. - Via performing systematic review and meta-analysis, researchers sought to ascertain the efficacy and safety of resection of sessile serrated polyps (SSPs) 10 mm or larger in size. They included 14 studies in this work; these comprised 911 patients (50.2% male; mean age, 62.8 ± 4.9 years). Resection of 1,137 SSPs (574 SSPs ≥ 20 mm) with a median polyp size of 19.4 mm (interquartile range, 15.9–29.6 mm) was undertaken in these patients. Outcomes support the safety of performing resection of SSPs ≥ 10 mm with low residual polyp rates. The significant factor for residual polyp is polyp size ≥ 20 mm. A lower rate of delayed bleeding was noted in correlation to performing cold endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) vs hot EMR.
