Efficacy and safety data for the XEN45 implant at 2 years: A retrospective analysis
British Journal of Ophthalmology Nov 22, 2019
Gabbay IE, et al. - In this retrospective analysis, researchers tested the safety and effectiveness measures for XEN45 in a National Health Service setting after 24-month follow-up. The sample consisted of patients who had XEN45 procedure between June 2015 and May 2017. In total, 151 eyes were involved. Primary open angle glaucoma, angle closure glaucoma and refractory glaucoma were the main diagnoses. After 2 years of follow-up, XEN45 is a viable, effective and safe procedure. Patients should be informed about the rate of failure, defined as requiring further surgery or removal of XEN, as well as the need for bleb revisions and the use of medication. No major adverse events have been reported.
