Efficacy and rebound rates in propranolol-treated subglottic hemangioma: A literature review
The Laryngoscope Aug 26, 2017
Schwartz T, et al. – The authors explored the available literature work, in order to determine the efficacy of propranolol in the management of subglottic and airway hemangiomas and to evaluate the rate of rebound growth following propranolol treatment cessation. Outcomes confirmed that propranolol was efficacious for treating subglottic hemangiomas. However, a small subset of patients reported rebound growth during the propranolol wean. Thus, close observation during weaning of propranolol therapy for subglottic hemangioma was important. In patients with rebound growth, adjunctive management strategies could be used.
