Journal of AAPOS Jul 19, 2018

Hark LA, et al. - Authors gauged the prevalence of decreased visual acuity and uncorrected refractive error in school-aged children participating in summer programs. Access to eye care ultimately aimed at improving social functioning and academic performance was facilitated with the partnership of summer programs and other community initiatives to provide vision screenings. Findings suggested a greater likeliness of worse visual acuity in younger children than older children. With age, myopia increased, whereas astigmatism decreased.
