Effects of treatment on anxiety levels among patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Jan 24, 2019
Gunes A, et al. - In this research, authors assessed 33 subjects to estimate the correlation between pre-treatment and post-treatment anxiety levels, evaluated with Beck anxiety inventory, with educational status among subjects diagnosed with and treated for Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), and also to assess the consequence of treatment on the sub-parameters of the Beck anxiety inventory. They observed improvements in anxiety-related subjective symptoms initially (1 week after the treatment) but symptoms showed persistence at a certain level even at the end of the first month. They also noted that inequalities in the candidates’ educational levels affected the anxiety levels. Hence, they suggested the consideration of the educational status while approaching the patients.
