Effects of Shenfu injection on survival and neurological outcome after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: A randomised controlled trial
Resuscitation Nov 28, 2019
Shao F, et al. - Researchers examined how providing Shenfu injection (SFI) in combination with epinephrine during cardiac arrest affects survival and neurological outcome after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). In this randomized, assessor-blind controlled trial, they randomized 1,233 OHCA patients treated at the Beijing Emergency Medical Center between January 2013 and June 2016, into either a treatment group that received a combination of SFI and standard treatment with epinephrine or a control group that received standard treatment with epinephrine alone. Patients treated with the combination of SFI and epinephrine vs epinephrine alone had favorable neurological outcomes after OHCA. However, the two groups showed no significant differences in the survival to hospital admission, the return of spontaneous circulation, survival to hospital discharge, and 1-year survival rate after discharge from the hospital.
