Lai CC, et al. - Researchers herein compared resistance training, endurance training and whole-body vibration in terms of impacts on lean body mass, muscle strength and physical performance in older people. They found that improved muscle strength and physical performance was most effectively brought about via resistance training, while whole-body vibration was found to be beneficial for physical performance. However, none of the three exercise interventions examined had a significant effect on lean body mass.
