Effects of regular endurance exercise on GlycA: Combined analysis of 14 exercise interventions
Atherosclerosis Jul 29, 2018
Barber JL, et al. - Researchers examined the effects of regular exercise on GlycA, a relatively new biomarker for inflammation as well as cardiometabolic disease risk, across seven studies and 14 exercise interventions. Despite differences in exercise programs and study populations, plasma GlycA was significantly reduced with regular exercise across 14 different exercise interventions. Other traditional inflammatory markers did not demonstrate any reduction with regular endurance exercise. A weak correlation was observed between changes in GlycA and changes in CRP, IL-6, and fibrinogen.
