Effects of propofol anesthesia vs sevoflurane anesthesia on postoperative pain after radical gastrectomy: A randomized controlled trial
Journal of Pain Research Jul 03, 2018
Ji F, et al. - Whether or not anesthesia with propofol could help to reduce pain after an open radical gastrectomy procedure was investigated via randomly assigning 60 patients who were scheduled to undergo a laparotomy for radical gastrectomy to either the propofol or sevoflurane group (n=30 each). In association with the multimodal analgesic approach, all patients, anesthetized with either propofol or sevoflurane, displayed a reduction in postoperative pain after the open radical gastrectomy procedure. Furthermore, the propofol group showed better analgesic outcome, especially in the early postoperative period.
