Journal of the American Heart Association Mar 28, 2019
Park J, et al. - In this investigation, researchers assessed the impacts of preoperative statins on acute kidney injury (AKI) following off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB). Based on preoperative statin use, 1,783 consecutive OPCAB patients were enrolled in either a statin or nonstatin group. Investigators found that the risk of AKI after OPCAB was not increased by either preoperative statin use or statin dose. In patients receiving OPCAB, preoperative statin therapy has no detrimental impact.
