Effects of peripheral vertigo on inflammatory and immunologic laboratory markers
ENT Journal May 01, 2020
Temirbekov D, et al. - Researchers determined if peripheral vertigo (PV) could influence easily accessible blood count parameters such as neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and mean platelet volume (MPV). For this purpose, they analyzed 142 patients with PV and 135 healthy patients who were free of inflammation as a control group. They categorized the patient group into 3 study groups based on the presence of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV): BPPV, vestibular dysfunction (VD), and BPPV + VD. Overall, observations revealed that NLR, PLR, and MPV did not alter significantly either in BPPV or in other peripheral vestibular disorders.
