Effects of oral morphine on dyspnea in patients with cancer: Response rate, predictive factors, and clinically meaningful change (CJLSG1101)
The Oncologist Jan 25, 2019
Takahashi K, et al. - In this multicenter prospective observational study, researchers assessed the data to elucidate the effect of oral morphine on dyspnea in cancer patients and to clarify the predictive features of its efficiency. They observed oral morphine as effective in relieving cancer-related dyspnea due to multiple determinants, like primary lung lesions, airway narrowing, and pleural effusion. They also reported an association of high score for “sense of discomfort” on the Cancer Dyspnea Scale (CDS) and a lower cumulative amount of smoking history predicted a greater effectiveness of oral morphine.
