Anyanwagu U, et al. - This research was designed to investigate the effects of obesity on metabolic and cardiovascular outcomes following insulin initiation in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Obesity adversely influenced HbA1c up to 12 months, but not beyond 24 months and was associated with a decrease in BMI among patients with T2D insulin initiators compared to non-obese groups. After 5 years, morbidly obese patients initiating insulin had 30% increased the risk of composite cardiovascular (CV) events.
