Mitolo M, et al. - A total of 32 articles were identified as research intervention studies and analyzed to evaluate the specific qualities of effective bright light treatment in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) cases as bright light treatment was mainly used to treat sleep and circadian disorders in AD cases. Sleep, cognition, mood, and/or behavior (e.g., depression, agitation) were considered as outcome measures. They assessed the quality of the papers based on the US Preventive Service Task Force guidelines. Researchers investigated the mixed effects of light treatment which might be affected by several factors, but with a general trend towards a positive effect and hence, appeared to be a hopeful intervention treatment without notable inopportune consequences.
