Effects of intensive interventions compared to standard care in people with type 2 diabetes and microalbuminuria on risk factors control and cardiovascular outcomes: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice Dec 16, 2018
Usman M, et al. - A sum of 7 randomized controlled trials was performed to evaluate the impacts of intensive interventions (IIs) compared with standard care, on risk factor control and cardiovascular issues in type 2 diabetes and microalbuminuria cases. Authors used random-effects meta-analysis to assess the effects across the studies. They recorded HbA1c in 4 studies, blood pressure measurements in 6 studies, non-fatal MI, non-fatal stroke, cardiovascular mortality and all-cause mortality in 3 studies, respectively. A significant decrease in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure was observed in IIs with nonsignificant variations for a reduction in HbA1c, total cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides, and urinary albumin excretion rate indicating no significant improved or worsen cases in intensive interventions.
