Effects of H1 antihistamine addition to intranasal corticosteroid for allergic rhinitis: A systematic review and meta-analysis
International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology Jun 23, 2018
Seresirikachorn K, et al. - Authors ascertained the impacts of antihistamine (AH) combined with intranasal corticosteroid (INCS) (AH-INCS) for treating allergic rhinitis (AR). They included the randomized, controlled trials that studied the effects of AH-INCS vs INCS monotherapy for treating patients with AR. Findings suggested that for treating AR, benefit of intranasal AH-INCS over INCS on nasal and ocular symptom improvement was seen. Experts did not recommend oral AH-INCS. With regard to disease-specific quality of life, nasal inspiratory flow, or adverse events, no significant differences were seen.
