Dalbeth N, et al. - A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study is performed to evaluate the impact of treatment with febuxostat vs placebo on joint damage in hyperuricemic subjects with early gout (experienced ≤ 2 gout flares). The current study showed that the urate-lowering therapy (ULT) with febuxostat improved magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) synovitis and reduced gout flares in subjects with early gout.
