Effects of exercise training on cognition in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: A systematic review
Respiratory Medicine May 18, 2018
Desveaux L, et al. - Researchers sought to describe the impact of exercise training on cognition in COPD via performing a systematic review. They identified only a few trials that assessed the effects of exercise training on cognition in COPD. These trials were noted to be heterogeneous in their design, intervention, and outcome measures. They generally observed pre-post training gains in at least one cognitive domain. Processing speed/attention/executive functions were the most often documented domains. The verbal learning and memory domain was also recognized to respond to exercise.
