Effects of exercise on pregnancy and postpartum fatigue: A systematic review and meta-analysis
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Aug 31, 2020
Liu N, Wang J, Chen DD, et al. - Via this review, researchers examined if and how exercise affects pregnancy and postpartum fatigue. Using PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science and the Cochrane Library database, they identified seven studies for inclusion. Meta-analysis of five studies suggests exercise during pregnancy and the postpartum period as beneficial for women’s fatigue. Findings from subgroup analyses suggested significantly improved fatigue levels in correlation with long exercise programmes, postpartum exercise and supervised exercise compared with the control. Based on outcomes, they suggest that postpartum fatigue may reduce with performing postpartum exercise in a supervised program lasting more than 8 weeks.
