Effects of different local analgesic techniques on postoperative quality of life and pain in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty under general anesthesia: A randomized controlled trial
Journal of Pain Research Mar 02, 2021
Yang R, Liu RH, Xu JN, et al. - This study was sought to correlate the variations between lumbosacral plexus block (LSPB) and local infiltration analgesia (LIA) on postoperative pain and quality of life (QoL) in total hip arthroplasty (THA) patients. Researchers prospectively randomized a total of 117 patients aged 40– 80 years, ASA I-III into two groups: general anesthesia plus LSPB (Group LSPB) and ageneral anesthesia plus LIA (Group LIA). They recorded pain intensity and opioid consumption Within 72 hours after surgery. The data exhibited that both LSPB and LIA can provide satisfactory postoperative analgesia. In THA patients undergoing general anesthesia, the LSPB is better than LIA for long-term QoL.
