Effects of diabetes mellitus and admission glucose in patients receiving mechanical thrombectomy: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Neurocritical Care Jul 01, 2018
Lu GD, et al. - Researchers analyzed previous studies that reported outcomes of mechanical thrombectomy (MT) in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients and how those outcomes related with diabetes mellitus or admission glucose level (AGL). The primary end point was functional independence (modified Rankin score ≤ 2 at 3 months). This meta-analysis included data from 12,653 patients in 47 articles. Findings corroborated the association of a history of diabetes mellitus and high AGL with unfavorable functional outcomes at 3 months after MT in AIS patients.
