Glumac S, et al. - This study hypothesized that dexamethasone when administered as prophylactic to attenuate the inflammatory response, reduces the risk of postoperative cognitive decline (POCD). Researchers tested the validity of this presumption and they found that via attenuating inflammatory response, dexamethasone reduced the risk of POCD following cardiac surgery, when administered preoperatively.
