Effects of berberine on acute necrotizing pancreatitis and associated lung injury

Pancreas Sep 19, 2017

Choi SB, et al. - The following study aimed to investigate whether berberine (BBR) could affect the severity of pancreatitis and pancreatitis-associated lung injury in choline-deficient ethionine-supplemented (CDE) diet–induced severe acute pancreatitis. The researchers proposed that by inhibiting activation of nuclear factor kappa B, c-Jun N-terminal kinase, and p38, BBR attenuated the severity of pancreatitis. Moreover, BBR could be used as a beneficial agent to regulate acute pancreatitis (AP).
