Eichhorn JT, et al. – In this research, the experts explored the effects of aging on vocal fundamental frequency (fo) and vowel formants in men and women. They disclosed that women experienced a significant decrease in fo, which might be associated with menopause. Across several decades of adult life, a little change was reported in formant frequencies of the corner vowels, either because physiological aging had small effects on these variables or because individuals compensated for age–related changes in anatomy and physiology.
