Effects of aerobic and resistance exercise on metabolic syndrome, sarcopenic obesity, and circulating biomarkers in overweight or obese survivors of breast cancer: A randomized controlled trial
Journal of Clinical Oncology Jan 26, 2018
Dieli-Conwright CM, et al. - Metabolic syndrome, sarcopenic obesity, and serum biomarkers were studied following a 16-week combined aerobic and resistance exercise intervention in ethnically diverse, sedentary, overweight, or obese survivors of breast cancer. Intervention was found to be effective at reducing metabolic syndrome, sarcopenic obesity, and relevant biomarkers in these patient populations. To improve metabolic syndrome in survivors of breast cancer, a targeted exercise prescription was suggested. Findings also lend support to the incorporation of supervised clinical exercise programs into breast cancer treatment and survivorship care plans.
