Effectiveness of the polysaccharide hemostatic powder in non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding: Using propensity score matching
Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Apr 04, 2018
Park JC, et al. - Authors sought to appraise the efficacy of the polysaccharide hemostatic powder (PHP) in the case of individuals presenting with non-variceal active upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB) compared to patients with UGIB treated with conventional therapy by comparing the rate of successful hemostasis and the rebleeding. Similarities were revealed in both the groups with regard to comorbidities, vital signs, and bleeding scores, as well as the rate of immediate hemostasis and 7 day and 30 day rebleeding before and after matching. Hence, PHP was discovered to be feasible for endoscopic treatment of UGIB. Additionally, it was displayed that the PHP could serve as a promising hemostatic method for non-variceal UGIB.
