Effectiveness of surgical interventions for thoracic aortic aneurysms: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of Vascular Surgery | Aug 18, 2017
Alsawas M, et al. – Authors conducted a systematic review and meta–analysis was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) and open repair in patients with descending thoracic aortic aneurysms (TAAs). Observational evidence at high risk of confounding indicated that in comparison to open repair for TAA, TEVAR reduced risk of mortality, paraplegia, spinal cord ischemia, and pulmonary complications within 30 days of intervention. Shorter length of hospital and intensive care unit (ICU) stay was observed among patients undergoing TEVAR in comparison to patients undergoing open repair.
