Effectiveness of rescue percutaneous balloon aortic valvuloplasty in patients with severe aortic stenosis and acute heart failure
The American Journal of Cardiology Jan 05, 2018
Eugene M, et al. - This study was designed to examine the outcomes of rescue percutaneous balloon aortic valvuloplasty (PBAV) in the transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) era. For high-risk aortic stenosis patients with cardiogenic shock (CS) or refractory pulmonary edema, the safety of rescue PBAV was demonstrated in this work. Furthermore, it was noted that rescue PBAV, when followed by TAVI or surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR), may improve dismal prognosis in these subjects.
