Effectiveness of preanesthetic administration of gabapentin on sedative action during intravenous sedation with propofol
Journal of Anesthesia Sep 24, 2018
Hosokawa R, et al. - The current study explored the sedative effect of gabapentin as preanesthetic medication during intravenous sedation (IVS) with propofol, as well as any postanesthetic complications and effect on vital signs by analyzing data from 10 volunteer subjects who took part in this investigation. No significant increases in complications were noted with the administration of gabapentin. No abnormality and no deterioration in circulation and respiration were observed in any of the groups. For achieving an adequate sedation level on IVS, the oral administration of 400 mg dose of gabapentin reduced the propofol CTs.
