Effectiveness of postoperative chemotherapy for stage IC mucinous ovarian cancer
Gynecologic Oncology Jul 10, 2019
Matsuo K, et al. - Researchers queried two large-scale U.S. tumor registries to investigate the survival of women with stage IC mucinous ovarian cancer (MOC) in correlation to receipt of postoperative chemotherapy. Receipt of postoperative chemotherapy was reported in 532 (58.5%) women and not in 377 (41.5%) women. One in eight women reported stage IC disease (12.6%). Postoperative chemotherapy use was reported in fewer than 60% of women with stage IC MOC. Postoperative chemotherapy use was noted to be correlated with poor tumor differentiation, large tumor size, and lymphadenectomy. They noted no improved survival in stage IC MOC in correlation to postoperative chemotherapy use.
