Effectiveness of kidney transplantation in HIV-infected recipients under combination antiretroviral therapy: A single-cohort experience (Brescia, Northern Italy)
Infection Nov 09, 2017
Izzo I, et al. - Authors performed a retrospective study on HIV-infected patients evaluated for kidney transplantation to assess the effectiveness of kidney transplantation in HIV-infected recipients under combination antiretroviral therapy. Findings revealed that in carefully selected HIV-infected patients, kidney transplantation could be safe. A high incidence of acute rejection as observed previously was confirmed here. The recent implementation of the immunosuppressive protocols could allow a better immunologic control. In addition, the introduction of InSTI permitted a better strategy of antiretroviral combination therapy, with lower incidence of pharmacokinetics interactions with immunosuppressive drugs.
