Effectiveness of combination of ultrasonography guided pulsed radiofrequency neuromodulation and block with short acting corticosteroid of suprascapular nerve in chronic shoulder pain
Pain Practice Jul 22, 2019
Sinha P, et al. - The efficacy of ultrasonography guided pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) of suprascapular Nerve (SSN) in managing chronic shoulder pain patients was determined. Following diagnostic ultrasonography-guided SSN block in 30 patients, 27 patients with positive results (>50% pain relief) were made to undergo PRF of SSN followed by application of Dexamethasone. Outcomes revealed significant reduction in Visual Analogue Scale immediately following injection and sustainment of pain reduction up to 24 weeks. In addition, there was a significant increase in active range in movement in all direction after the procedure. Findings thereby support the safety and effectiveness of PRF of SSN under ultrasonography guidance for management of chronic shoulder pain.
