JAMA Aug 07, 2021
Vita A, Barlati S, Ceraso A, et al. - Cognitive remediation is supported to be an evidence-based intervention, which should be advocated and implemented more extensively in the standard management of people diagnosed with schizophrenia.
In this systematic review and meta-analysis, included were 194 reports on 130 studies.
For all patients with schizophrenia, even for those most severely affected, cognitive remediation was established to be effective on both cognitive and functional outcomes and potentially valuable.
Crucial ingredients of efficacy were an active and trained therapist, structured development of cognitive strategies, and integration with rehabilitation.
