Effectiveness and safety of total laparoscopic distal gastrectomy vs laparoscopy-assisted distal gastrectomy for gastric cancer: A retrospective cohort study

The American Journal of Surgery May 25, 2018

Tang T, et al. - The authors aimed at comparing the results of total laparoscopic distal gastrectomy (TLDG) and laparoscopy-assisted-distal gastrectomy (LADG). They also investigated the safety and feasibility of TLDG. They analyzed 127 LADG cases and 104 TLDG cases balanced for age, sex, BMI, ASA scores, and CEA level in this study. Findings suggest that TLDG have the potential for achieving the same therapeutic effect as LADG does when the surgical principles of malignant tumor are followed. TLDG was found to be a safe and feasible procedure for gastric cancer patients.
