Effectiveness and safety of polydioxanone thread embedding acupuncture compared to physical therapy in the treatment of patients with non-specific chronic neck pain: An assessor-blinded, randomized, controlled, clinical trial
Journal of Pain Research Jan 30, 2021
Kim JI, Han CH, Jeon JH, et al. - The effectiveness and safety of thread embedding acupuncture (TEA) was compared with that of physical therapy (PT) for treating patients with chronic neck pain (CNP). Researchers randomly assigned a total of 128 patients diagnosed with CNP to a TEA group and a PT group. Outcomes revealed higher effectiveness of TEA treatment vs PT treatment among patients with CNP for improving their pain and dysfunction, quality of life, and psychological distress. Although some post-treatment discomfort is reported, consideration can be given to TEA treatment as a useful treatment method for patients with CNP.
