Effect of vitamin D on Helicobacter pylori infection and eradication: A meta-analysis
Helicobacter Oct 03, 2019
Yang L, et al. - Via searching articles published until June 1, 2019, in the PubMed, MEDLINE, and EMBASE databases with English-language medical studies, researchers intended to determine if there is an association between vitamin D and H pylori infection, and vitamin D and H pylori eradication. In this meta-analysis, 10 articles were finally included. Investigators found that H pylori-positive patients had lower levels of vitamin D than H pylori-negative patients. Individuals with H pylori successful eradication had higher levels of vitamin D than individuals with unsuccessful eradication. Additionally, the success rate of H pylori eradication was lower for people with vitamin D deficiency. More prospective studies are required in the future to validate this study's outcomes.
