Effect of vitamin B12 injection on the vocal performance of professional singers: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover trial
JAMA Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery Jan 19, 2021
Shoffel-Havakuk H, Lava CX, Reuven Y, et al. - In this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover trial, researchers sought to evaluate the presence and magnitude of the impact of empirical vitamin B12 injection on the vocal performance of singers. This investigation was performed from November 7, 2017, to November 30, 2018, at an academic voice center among 20 active adult singers (10 men; median age, 22 years [range, 19-42 years]) without dysphonia but with mild vocal symptoms. The authors discovered that the improvement in self-reported voice measures in singers showed no substantial difference compared with placebo after empirical vitamin B12 injection to improve mild voice-related symptoms.
