Effect of vertical location on survival outcomes for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in Singapore
Resuscitation Apr 08, 2019
Lian TW, et al. - Given that a large proportion of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) cases occur in high-rise residential buildings, researchers investigated how vertical location influence the survival outcomes and response times in this retrospective study. From the Singapore cohort of the Pan-Asian Resuscitation Outcomes Study (PAROS), they obtained data of a total of 5678 OHCA cases in the study. OHCA survival probability was noted to be correlated with vertical location with a U-shaped response. After adjustment for other significant OHCA variables, this significance remained. As per observations, this relationship seems multifactorial.
